On an uncharacteristically hot and dry day Welsh day with temperatures in excess of 26 degrees celsius, 250 riders including VC Montpelliers Richard Cook (competing in his first UK sportive ride) set out on an 137km route.

Described by Cycling Weeklys' Huw Williams as "a course which provides one of the hardest Sportive challenges the UK has yet witnessed", Cook made light work of the copious climbs.
He completed the ride in 5 hours 9 minutes finishing 2nd in his category (8th overall) – 36 minutes inside Gold standard.
