Strong wind and heavy rain saw a field of 30 riders in the 4th category race at Thruxton on Sunday morning.

The relatively slow early pace suggested riders were being cautious in the foul conditions and this allowed a split to form on the second lap of twelve. Richard Cook rode across to the front group and was joined by 2 others to make the front group of 10.
This group of riders then continued to work together and rode away from the main bunch on lap 3 to get a good half lap advantage.

On lap 6 two riders rode off the front of the pace line, leaving Cook stuck at the back, who tried to bridge, so did another rider but they got away in the headwind and continued working well together to stay away and take first and second places.

Four riders contested the final 500 metres with Cook taking second in the sprint for 4th place.
